OM Maritime has set out to expand its fleet with a pair of stainless steel chemical tanker newbuilds in China.
The Singapore-based owner has tapped the reborn New Jiangzhou Shipbuilding Heavy Industry in Jiangxi for 13,800 dwt units with the first delivery set for the fourth quarter of 2026. No price has been revealed.
The company, established in 2007 by Captain Subhangshu Dutt, lists three owned tankers, six more chartered-in and a brace of boxships under a bareboat deal on its website.
Meanwhile, the yard, formerly known as Jiangzhou Union Shipbuilding, has seen several orders coming in from chemical tanker owners and MPP specialists since its official launch in March last year.
