Maria Angelicoussis-led Maran Gas Maritime has returned to South Korea’s Hanwha Ocean for a pair of LNG carrier newbuilds.
The gas shipping unit of Greece’s Angelicoussis Shipping Group is paying KRW713.5bn ($511m at today’s exchange rate) to have the 174,000 cu m vessels delivered in 2027.
Angelicoussis Group has placed orders for more than 120 ships at Hanwha Oceam, formerly Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME), since 1994 worth over $15bn. The latest deal also came with options for two additional vessels.
Hanwha Ocean has secured nearly 40 newbuilding projects worth around $8.4bn this year, including 19 LNG carriers.
