China’s Zhonggu Logistics is pressing ahead with its fleet expansion， lining up 10 feeder containerships at the recently revived Wuhan Qingshan Shipyard.

The Shanghai-listed liner said it will invest up to $392m in a series of 1，800 teu vessels， with deliveries scheduled between 2028 and 2029.

The deal gives a boost to Qingshan， which has been brought back into operation under China Merchants Industry， and is looking to rebuild its orderbook after a period of inactivity.

The yard， established in 1950， exited newbuilding in 2018 to focus on repairs and steel work after completing its last export bulk carrier.

For Zhonggu， the latest contract continues a busy run in the newbuilding market this year. Earlier in 2026， the company was linked to a 6，000 teu series at Hengli Shipbuilding， followed by a separate order for additional boxships， pushing its total newbuild spend past the $1bn mark.

According to fleet data from Alphaliner， the company currently operates around 60 vessels with a combined capacity of roughly 53，500 teu.
