Turkish conglomerate Yasa Group, best known as an owner of dry bulk vessels and tankers, has been identified as the owner behind a pair of 3,100 teu containership newbuildings ordered at a Chinese shipyard in late 2025, according to Alphaliner.
Penglai Zhongbai Jinglu Ship Industry, also known as Jinglu Shipyard, will deliver the two vessels in August and October 2028. The ships are believed to be SDARI Sealion 3100 designs, with a deadweight of approximately 41,000 tons, a length of 199.90 m and a breadth of 35.30 m.
Chinese-built tonnage of this size class is currently estimated to cost around $45m, though no price guidance has been reported for the Yasa pair.
Yasa is not the first Turkish owner to move into this size segment. Fellow Turkish group Ciner placed an order for a very similar, possibly identical pair at New Dayang Shipyard in September 2025, with delivery scheduled for early 2028.
Alphaliner notes that some sources suggest Yasa has since expanded its order to four vessels in this class, though this has not yet been confirmed.
