Greek shipowner George Procopiou is continuing his large crude carrier expansion with another order at Hengli Heavy Industry.

The latest deal, placed through Dynacom Tankers, covers four 306,000 dwt VLCCs. Industry sources estimate the contracts to be worth between $400m and $600m in total.

Hengli confirmed it had signed contracts for the four ships, marking the second VLCC order Dynacom has placed at the yard this year and 16th newbuilding project in this segment between the two companies.

The order follows another major project earlier this year, when Dynacom contracted nine suezmax tankers at the Dalian-based yard as part of a broader fleet renewal push.

Across the wider Procopiou group, ship ordering activity has remained strong. Dynacom currently controls a fleet of close to 70 tankers and has around 80 vessels on order across several Chinese shipyards, including New Times Shipbuilding and Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co., in addition to Hengli.

The company has additionally been linked to an order for up to 12 VLCCs at Hudong-Zhonghua, placed earlier this year, with deliveries slated for 2028 and prices reported at around $120m per vessel.

The group’s dry bulk arm, Sea Traders, has also been active at Hengli, where it has ordered 10 kamsarmax bulk carriers.
