Singapore’s MAC Shipping is expanding its fleet via a debut order for stainless steel chemical tanker newbuilds.
The company has tapped China’s Jiangxi New Jiangzhou Shipbuilding Heavy Industry for four 25,900 dwt units costing $50m each, according to brokers, with deliveries starting in 2026.
MAC Shipping was established in 2021, initially operating break bulk vessels only to shift its focus to the chemical tanker sector in 2022.
The company currently lists four ships on its website built between 2001 and 2006. The 159-m-long newbuilds will meet the requirements of EEDI (energy efficiency design index) Stage 3 and be able to carry IMO II & III chemicals and Annex I oil cargos.
