Greece’s Laskaridis Maritime has moved into the MR product tanker segment with a newbuild series in China.

The Athens-based shipping arm of the Alimia Group has returned to Penglai Zhongbai Jinglu Ship Industry for five MR vessels after signing up for a pair of kamsarmax bulkers in April.

No price or delivery dates have been disclosed for the latest series， which is expected to be conventionally fueled.

Excluding the MRs， the company led by Odysseas Laskaridis currently lists 29 vessels on a fully delivered basis， with 13 on order and mostly made up of bulk carriers. Laskaridis also has one LR1 tanker booked for construction at Jiangsu New Yangzijiang， due for delivery in 2026.

In related MR orders in the Far East， South Korea’s SK Shipbuilding has been revealed by brokers as the winner of two newbuilds from Vietnam’s Asia Pacific Shipping.
