Greek owner Tsakos Energy Navigation (TEN) has firmed up orders for five LR1 tankers in China.

Brokers report the New York-listed firm， which earlier this year revealed “firm discussions” with Far Eastern yards， has signed up for four 75，000 dwt newbuilds at New Times Shipbuilding and one at Yangzijiang Shipbuilding.

A price tag of $55m each has been placed on the scrubber-fitted vessels targeted for delivery in 2027 and 2028.

The latest order brings TEN’s newbuilding programme to 12 ships that， in addition to LRs， include three shuttle tankers， two suezmax vessels and two MR product tankers.
