Bangladesh is one of Asia's more aggressive shipping nations in terms of acquisitions this year. Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC) has placed an order of three 39,000dwt tankers at China's leading private shipyard Jiangsu New Yangzijiang. Each of the tankers is valued at US$28.5m. The delivery is set for 2018.
Shipping companies in Bangladesh are very good at asking for finance from Chinese banks to build up their fleets in recent years.
