British shipowner Lomar Shipping has placed an order with China's Guangzhou Wenchong Shipyard for construction of two 2,700teu container vessels.
The contract includes options for two more units.
The ships feature 186 meters in lenght, 34.8 meters in width and 17.9m in depth. The value of the contract and the delivery dates of the newbuilds have not been disclosed.
According to Guangzhou Wenchong, the contract signing is a proof of the company's ability to secure orders in a very tough and extremely competitive market.
Lomar Corporation is a ship-owning and management group, owned by the Libra Group. Its fleet of almost 80 vessels includes bulk carriers, container ships, offshore vessels, LPG, products and chemical tankers.
