COSCO Shipyard Group said that it has secured two shipbuilding contracts through its subsidiaries worth about US$160m.
COSCO's Zhoushan Shipyard Co. has received a contract from an undisclosed European company for the construction of a 152,000dwt shuttle tanker. The shuttle tanker is scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2017.
COSCO's Dalian Shipyard is said to have signed a deal to build an additional 21,000dwt module carrier with a European company that also remained undisclosed. The option has been exercised in line with a contract dated Sept. 12, 2013.
The delivery of the module carrier is scheduled for the first quarter of 2017.
The European client is believed to be BigRoll Shipping which contracted Dalian Shipyard to build two MC Class Module Carriers for the transportation of ultra large and heavy modular cargoes in September 2013.
BigRoll said in December that it had exercised options at Dalian to build two more MC Class Module Carriers, bringing the total number of vessels under construction to four.
COSCO also announced two deliveries from its shipyards. COSCO's Guangdong Shipyard delivered Chios Victory bulk carrier to its European buyer Chios Ocean Shipping and Trading. The Greek-flagged mono-hull carrier is classed by DNV, which measures 179.99 meters in LOA (length of all), 30 meters in breadth and 14.70 meters in depth.
In addition, COSCO said that its Zhoushan Shipyard delivered a Platform Supply Vessel "Sunrise 1" to its buyer from Asia.
