Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering turns out to have signed a newbuilding contract for four LR2 tankers, including options for two, with emerging tanker owner, Flagship Marine Ventures.
The shipowner, a joint venture teamed up with Prime Marine Management of Greece and a US investment company Perella Weinberg Partners, has placed an order for up to four 115,000-dwt crude oil and product carriers at the Korean shiphbuilder.
The firm two newbuildings are slated for delivery in February and March of 2015 each, while option for two will be declared by the second half of this year.
Newbuilding price has not been disclosed, however, according to Clarksons, standard newbuilding price of a 115,000DWT tanker is currently at around $47m.
