Hong Kong-listed Seacon Shipping has cashed in on its second bulk carrier in a month as it continues to gather cash for potential future deals and balance out its fleet portfolio.
The Qingdao-based diversified owner and operator has agreed a $32.1m sale of the modern 2019-built ultramax Seacon Athens to Shanghai-based Henxin Ship Leasing.
The 63,800 dwt Nantong Xiangyu-built vessel should change hands by the end of this year, delivering a net gain of $9m, the company said in a filing, adding that it would use the proceeds to finance potential acquisitions of vessels and as general working capital.
Seacon has been focused on diversifying its fleet and expanding its footprint in the tanker segment with several newbuilds while letting go of some of its bulkers.
In July, the company sealed a deal to sell one of its supramaxes at $6m profit and arranged a sale and leaseback for a pair of handysize vessels under construction in Japan, with purchase options attached.
