On September 1, the signing ceremony for the construction of an 8000 DWT stainless steel chemical tanker was held in Shanghai. A letter of intent was signed between COSCO Shipping(Shanghai) Co., Ltd. and Chongqing Chuandong Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd. It is also the first intelligent 8000 DWT stainless steel chemical / product oil tanker. This newbuilding is 119 in length overall, 18.5m in width, 9.4m in depth with the design draft of 6.3m. It is classed into CCS under the five-starred red flag at 12.8 knots of service speed and its endurance is about 6000 n miles in accordance with rules for construction and equipment of type II ships carrying dangerous liquid chemicals in bulk.
