Sallaum Lines took delivery of its new Pure Car and Truck Carrier (PCTC), Ocean Explorer, during a ceremony in China on 6 January.
The vessel exceeds current IMO emission requirements and is the first in a series of six vessels ordered as part of the company’s fleet expansion strategy in China.
Built at Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding in China, Ocean Explorer measures 199.9 metres in length with a beam of 38 metres and has a carrying capacity of 7,500 CEU (Car Equivalent Units) across 13 decks. It is equipped with a dual-fuel engine capable of operating on LNG.
The PCTC is designed to transport natural gas- and hydrogen-powered vehicles in addition to conventional ones. It is also certified to carry hazardous cargo, and four of its decks are liftable to accommodate larger vehicles such as trailers and buses.
