Taiwan's Evergreen has split its next fleet expansion plans equally between China and South Korea.
Greek broker Intermodal is reporting Taiwan’s largest liner has ordered 14 LNG dual-fuel 14,000 teu vessels, split equally between Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI) and Samsung Heavy Industries. Costing about $200m each, for a total outlay of around $2.8bn, the ships will deliver between 2028 and 2030.
Evergreen is the world’s seventh largest container carrier, its fleet about to break through the 2m teu mark for the first time.
In February this year, Evergreen contracted for 11 LNG dual-fuel 24,000 teu ships, split between GSI and Hanwha Ocean.
