Greece’s Horizon Tankers has upped its MR orderbook adding two more newbuilds in China.
The Anthony Comninos-led owner has exercised an option for 50,000 dwt chemical/product carriers at Zhoushan Changhong International Shipyard, with deliveries set between 2026 and 2027.
The yard has revealed no price, but shipbroking sources suggest $45m per ship. The contract follows four firm newbuildings reported in May this year.
According to shipbuilding databases, excluding this year’s order, Piraeus-based Horizon last booked newbuilds in 2014 when it signed up for a pair of MRs at South Korea’s Sungdong. The company, set up in 2007, currently lists a fleet of four suezmaxes and eight MR2s on its website.
