Shandong Shipping has swelled its orderbook of very large ore carriers (VLOCs) at Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding to six ships.
The Chinese state-run shipping firm has added two 325,000 dwt Guaibamax units to a series of four newbuilds booked at the yard late last year for delivery in 2027.
The latest duo, priced at $130m each, will feature methanol dual-fuel engines and join Shandong’s fleet in 2028.
The giant 340 m long ships will be used to haul Brazilian iron ore for Vale.
