Qatar-based yard Nakilat-Keppel Offshore and Marine (N-KOM) has won US$110 million contract to construct a self-propelled and self-elevating liftboat.

Customer is a subsidiary of Gulf International Services (GIS), Gulf Drilling International (GDI) Limited. The liftboat will be customised for field transit operations in the Middle East and North Africa region in water depths of up to 65m. Expected to be completed by the end of 2015, the liftboat will provide accommodation and platform support services for a customer with operations in Qatar. N-KOM, a joint venture shipyard between Qatar’s Nakilat and Singapore’s Keppel Offshore and Marine, has also won a six-year repair and maintenance contract for GDI’s existing fleet of jack up rigs operating in the Middle East.
