Diana Shipping has signed a memorandum of agreement to acquire a resale capesize bulker for a purchase price of $58m from an unaffiliated third party seller.
The 180,000-dwt new capesize vessel is being built by China’s Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding Heavy Industry and it will be delivered to Diana Shipping by mid-August this year.
As at 27 June 2014, Diana Shipping has a combined carrying capacity of approximately 4.21m dwt with a weighted average age of 6.83 years from 38 dry bulk vessels.
The shipowner is waiting to take delivery of two newbuilding newcastlemaxes and one newbuilding kamsarmax during the second quarter of 2016.
