China’s Zhongxing Marine & Land Engineering secured a contract to build topsides for two 115,000 dwt PCs from compatriot Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI) along with signing a letter of intent to construct a topside for 308,000 dwt very large crude oil carrier.
This contract represents Zhongxing’s first deal of topside construction in PC segment. In addition, the topside is known to be installed on the largest vessel in dwt terms.
Meanwhile, Zhongxing is recently putting its efforts into promoting ability to build topside for various vessel sizes and turned out to have delivered topsides for GPA688 type PSV, offshore vessels and etc. in the first half of this year, with completing 10 topside constructions for offshore rigs.
It is the first time for GSI to work with Zhongxing and the topside is slated for delivery late this year.
