Chinese owner Tianjin Southwest Maritime has contracted a pair of 25,000 cum gas carriers capable of transporting LPG and ammonia at CSSC-affiliated Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding.

The newbuilds will feature ammonia dual-fuel capability and be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2026 and the second quarter of 2027. No price has been revealed.

Tianjin Southwest Maritime’s fleet is mostly made up of LPG carriers, and the latest order will be the company’s first move into the ammonia segment. The ships will be classed by CCS and be equipped with 3 Type A liquid cargo tanks and 2 deck tanks.

The cooperation with the yard in Guangzhou follows several newbuilding projects, including asphalt tankers, LPG and other multipurpose gas carriers.
