H-Line Takes Delivery of Newbuild LNG Powered Bulk Carrier from Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding

A newbuild LNG-powered bulk carrier, the “HL TRUST,” was delivered to South Korean H-Line shipping by the Chinese shipbuilder,Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding.

The “HL TRUST” is the third and last LNG-powered bulk carrier in the order of three vessels that was placed at Beihai back in 2021.

The vessel is registered in the Marshall Islands and has been chartered to Rio Tinto Shipping for the next six years. It weighs 210,000 tons, is 299.95 meters long,has a beam of 50 meters,and a draft of 25.2 meters. The ship can cruise at speeds of up to 14 knots. It has classifications from both the DNV and the Korean Register classification societies.

The main engine,the generator, and the boiler of the vessel are all LNG-powered. The ship has two 3000-cubic-meter IMO “type C” LNG tanks. The ship also features equipment such as LNG high- and low-pressure pumps,high- and low-pressure vaporization heaters,high- and low-pressure buffer tanks,and a boil-off gas re-condensation system.

The earlier two vessels of the order,named “HL Future” and “HL Hope,” were delivered last year in October and December,respectively. H-Line currently has 19 more vessels on order. Out of these,nine are 174,000 cbm LNG carriers,and the remaining 10 are car and truck carriers.
