Chinese owner Agricore Shipping is expanding its fleet of bulk carriers with a newbuilding deal at the domestic yard.
The secondhand buyer has selected CSSC-affiliated Chengxi Shipyard for its first pair of kamsarmax newbuilds scheduled for delivery in 2026.
Established in 2016, the Qingdao-based outfit entered shipowning with its first bulker buy at auction in October 2018. The company currently owns four Japanese-built panamax bulkers with an average age of 15 years, according to VesselsValue data.
Chengxi has not revealed the price tag for the 82,600 dwt ships, which currently stands at around $35m for similar tonnage. The shipyard recently sealed a deal with compatriot Huaxia Financial Leasing for another pair of kamsarmaxes, marking the Beijing-based leasing company’s entry into this segment.
