Chinese shipowner and operator Seacon Shipping is expanding its fleet with a fresh order for a pair of handysize bulk carriers in Japan.
The Qingdao-based company has contracted Tsuneishi Shipbuilding to have the vessels delivered by end-June and end-September 2025 for around $31.7m each.
The order comes hot on the heels of Seacon’s $52m raise for initial public offering in Hong Kong, which was followed by newbuilding contract with Huanghai Shipbuilding for two 62,000 dwt multipurpose dry cargo vessels. The duo will deliver in 2024 for $41.58m each.
