Norwegian shipowner Songa Bulk ASA has entered into an agreement to acquire a Kamsarmax bulk carrier built in 2010 at Japan’s Sumitomo yard.

Featuring 81,466 dwt, the vessel will be delivered during the fourth quarter of 2017, bringing the company’s fleet to a total of 12 ships.

The vessel in question is the Midland Sky, which was purchased from Japan’s shipowner Mitsubishi Corporation for a price of USD 18 million, according to data provided by VesselsValue.

Songa Bulk plans to establish a wholly owned subsidiary to take delivery of the Kamsarmax.

The company invested USD 217.2 million into its fleet so far and took delivery of ten vessels, while Songa Opus, the Capesize purchased in June, is expected to join its fleet in late August.
